Comps & The Verdon
From our hotel, discover the Verdon Regional Nature Park. A nature destination par excellence...
Nestled on a rocky outcrop 900 m above sea level, the village of Comps is located on the Haut-Varois plateau, in the Verdon Regional Nature Park, on the edge of the Pre-Alps. Situated on an important route between the Mediterranean and the Alps, Comps has undergone great expansion over the centuries, thanks to its merchants who enabled a flourishing trade.
Situated at one of the gateways to the remarkable Gorges du Verdon site, between Draguignan and Castellane, on the Route de l'Histoire et des Légendes, Comps is the ideal starting point for a wealth of discoveries.
As you hike through the generous, unspoilt countryside, you'll come across numerous witnesses to the past: chapels, washhouses, Roman remains and other little treasures.
A little further away from Comps, you'll find the picturesque village of Bargème, listed as one of France's most beautiful villages and the highest in the Var; Trigance, a charming medieval village; the ancient county town of Draguignan; or the pretty little town of Castellane on the Napoleon road and the banks of the Verdon, from where you can explore the Gorges du Verdon and Lac de Sainte-Croix from Aiguines or as far as Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
We'd be delighted to advise you on the activities and partners that can help you discover our beautiful region.
